Why buy processed maraschino cherries with more chemicals than a Nal Hutta swamp? These are as easy to love as the smoothest Corellian scoundrel.
Ingredients
1 Cup fresh cherries, pitted
1/2 Cup Brandy or Cognac
2 Tablespoons vanilla sugar or white sugar
Directions
Pit the cherries. I do carefully this with a small strawberry huller or a paring knife, but there are fancy cherry-pitting tools you can buy.
Place the cherries in a clean glass jar.
In a small saucepan, mix together brandy and sugar and stir over low heat until just starting to bubble. Pour the mixture over the cherries and let them sit on the counter for an hour before refrigerating. Good for up to two weeks.
